JOURNAL OF NETWORK AND SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT

Special Issue on

Multimedia Network/Service Management

The convergence of telecommunication networks, computers, interactive TV, multimedia programming, and consumer electronics is changing the way we interact. The range and sophistication of multimedia applications is growing rapidly, propelled by technological advances, standardization, and increasing demand for cost-effective services. Multimedia is expected to dominate broadband communication well into the next century. This special issue is intended to examine multimedia network services and integrated network management methodologies and issues. The intention is to bring together a wide range of perspectives on the interoperability of management systems, including the research and development in multimedia OAM&P, application services, and procedures; and to provide future direction. The special issue will include tutorials, state-of- the-art research articles, and practical examples. The focus will be on: o Implementation Architectures, Technologies, and User Interface for Multimedia Services o Multimedia Specific Implementations Using Broadband Networks o Temporal Synchronization and Management, Flow/Congestion Control o Network Design and Optimization, Storage Requirements, Reliability and Security o Applications Interoperability and Quality of Services o Client/Server Management Models and Frameworks for Multimedia Implementations o Multimedia Management Information Base o Management Standards, Hardware and Software Platforms o Emerging Trends in Multimedia Server Technologies, Middleware Management and Control o Multimedia Communication Services Provisioning o OAM&P Experiments, Field Trials, Applications and Experiences Instructions to Authors: Please submit four copies of your manuscript, not exceeding 20 double-spaced type-written pages, to one of the Guest Editors.
