CALL FOR PAPERS
JOURNAL OF NETWORK AND SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT
Special Issue on
Network Management Information Modeling
Management information modeling plays an important role in the development
of network and service management systems. The management information
model implemented by a network and/or service management system influences
its efficiency, effectiveness and inter-operability with other systems.
Furthermore, with the complexity and heterogeneity of both managing and
managed systems, network management information cannot be modeled without
appropriate methodologies, notations, formal description methods as well
as appropriate modeling tools and techniques. This special issue is
intended to address these issues and suggest future directions.
The focus of this special issue will be on, but not limited to,
the following topics:
o New management information modeling methodologies and notations,
unifying existing standard ones (GDMO/GRM, CORBA IDL, TINA ODL, SNMP
SMI)
o Integration of existing standard notations
o Representation of behaviors of management information models
o Experiences in implementing management information models using
software tools
o Graphical notations for management information modeling
o Requirements for management information modeling at different
management layers (business, service, network and element management)
o Trends in modeling different types of networks (ATM, SDH, WDM,
wireless, legacy)
o Enrichment of management information models with exploitable
knowledge specification
o Testing and validation of management information models
