JOURNAL
OF NETWORK AND SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT
Special Issue on Management of IP
Multimedia Subsystems
Today, the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is globally considered as the
common service platform for providing a unified session control on top of
various access network technologies for realizing new IP-based multimedia
communication and information services. IMS is also driving the notion of Next
Generation Networks (NGNs) and Fixed Mobile
Convergence (FMC) by merging the fixed and mobile telecommunication networks
with the Internet and the adoption of IP technologies within the telecom
domain. Although we can witness the availability of international standards for
NGN/IMS signaling, management solutions of this converging technology domain are
not yet standardized. Thus the global
introduction of IMS platforms in fixed and mobile networks and provision of
related IMS applications is challenged today by the questions around management
issues.
In this special issue we would like to identify the challenges in IMS system and service management and to provide a snapshot of the state-of-the-art in IMS management standards and related solutions development and deployment around the world. We are soliciting papers covering a variety of topics that include:
· State of the art in NGN / IMS management standardization
· Experiences / Best practices in IMS management from IMS trials and early deployments
· Fault and Performance Management of IMS Core Systems / IMS Network Element Management
· IMS services management
· Management of IMS service enablers / service orchestration management
· Managing 3rd party applications and application servers in IMS
· Dynamic service provisioning in IMS
· IMS End System Software Management / Device Management
· Multidomain management aspects for interconnected IMS Systems
· End-to End Policy-based QoS Management in NGNs
· Security management issues in IMS
· Charging and accounting management issues in IMS
· Push 2 Talk management issues
· FMC Management in converging networks and of seamless services
· Management of IMS Subscriber Data / User Profiles
· Customer self management in IMS
· ID Management in IMS / Single sign on
Papers should be of tutorial nature and contain state-of-the-art research and development materials. Authors must follow the JNSMīs guidelines regarding the manuscript format.
